Sign up for this summer's Loras All-Sports Camp!
The 31st Loras College All-Sports Camp will take place this summer, with sessions in June and July. The highly rated All-Sports Camp, located on our beautiful campus, offers boys & girls ages 7-13 a unique opportunity to receive intensive instruction in a major sport, along with training in two additional minor sports of their choice.
The camp takes place in an atmosphere that promotes the development of Christian values, sportsmanship and citizenship. Campers enjoy all the benefits of Loras College, including the excellent athletic facilities and resident campers get a taste of college dormitory living. At Loras All-Sports Camp, your camper will experience a life-changing, fun-filled adventure that will stay with them for a lifetime.
The Loras All-Sports Camp offers excellent instruction in forty sports, including activities as wide-ranging as kayaking, biking and rock-climbing. Each camper gets a chance to receive concentrated training from highly qualified instructors in three of these sports per week. Throughout the week, campers are under the care of our camp counselors and instructors. Our counselors are young teachers and student athletes who are selected with extreme care to reflect outstanding teaching ability in their sports and a desire to help develop youngsters into exemplary citizens.
There are daily competitions where campers have the chance to use their new skills. In addition to sports instruction and competition, campers also engage in tea-building exercises and other social activities and entertainment. The last day of camp is the "Camp Olympics" when parents and families are invited to watch the campers in action.
One of the unique traditions of the All-Sports Camp is the Loras College Paddle Award, a creative way of developing Christian values and sportsmanship in campers. Each of the eight letters in the acronym LCPADDLE represents a characteristic of Christianity, perseverance, attitude, dedication, discipline, loyalty and enthusiasm. A council fire is held at the end of the week where campers receive a paddle brand based on their improvement in one of the symbolized areas. The first award is the paddle itself. To earn the paddle and the brands the camper must follow the Four Golden Rules of the camp: Be a good listener; follow instructions; try hard; have fun. The camper's goal is to earn all eight brands during his or her years at camp.
2013 registration opens on February 5th. To register your camper, visit lorasallsportscamps.com.
