    Re: Sweet Tickets, Jingle Jam

We actually have a few items in our household that are considered taboo, just to name a couple. One would include the pre-packaged Lunchables. The sodium content in them are so high. And any dinner or lunch that comes out of a box. They're just unhealthy.  I love to give my kids all fresh vegetables and alot of fruit. They're pretty good too at eating everything that is healthy for them.  We also stay away from all the fast food chains.  I'd feel like a bad mom if I feed my kids that stuff.

We are a vegetarian family of four, therefore, any animal product is taboo in our household.  For Thanksgiving, we buy a Tofurkey dinner, make our own stuffing, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and enjoy!!!

    Hi Kate!

In our house we have a pretty basic pantry. We try to buy as much unadulterated food as possible, but nothing is taboo. Right next to the whole grain pasta is a nice blue package of Oreos. With all the "Coffee is bad for you and Oh!, coffee is good for you" we say everything is good as long as you eat it with love.  Our opinion is that the guilt people feel about "bad" food is probably worse for your body than the actual consumption of it. So if you're going to eat it, then eat it and enjoy it.

    Warm regards,

    Marie

Foods containing Gluten or Casein are defitnely taboo in our home. We have cut out Dairy, wheat and oats. It's a great way to eat healthier and feel better. We are a Gluten free and Casein Free Family

We try to keep all foods out of the taboo category.  We have the kids at least try everything.  I recently learned that a child must try a food at least 20 times before knowing it is disliked.  That's an awful lot of casseroles, sweet potatoes, and sweet and sour!

    Hello,

We've had much reason to reflect on foods we give our children these past two months, but even prior to that we've always and never eaten Red Meat nor Pork...our family motto is "we do not eat 4 legged friends!"

Now we've also incorporated not eating saccrine products, pop, sweets...we are now buying more and more of the 100 Calorie foods! They are grrreat!

    Thank you.

    Re: Sweet Tickets, Jingle Jam

Marie, I absolutely love your answer.  I sat here and thought about it, and I pretty much came up with the same answer you provided.  It seems like each week something new is added to the "good" list only to be relegated to the "bad" list the following week.

The other thing is that the more you say "no" to your kids with regards to eating something that is "so, so bad for them", the more they want to try it.  My motto is ... everything in moderation, and we should all be o.k.

    Have a great day everyone!

The food that is considered to be taboo in my household is chitterlings. My entire family get very sick whenever we smell chitterlings. I do not know how people can eat that food.

I have to agree with Beccy.  If my daughter eats SOMETHING, it's worth consideration!  If she likes it, Thank Goodness!

I hear all you allergy families! We are peanut-free, have been for 5.5 years and going strong!

Other taboo foods include anything containing food dyes and processed meats containing nitrites. They would get thrown up right away by our little guy, so we keep 'em out of here and just buy fresh meats from the butcher.

It is pretty amazing what gets put in foods these days, so our youngest's allergy issues was a wake-up call for the rest of the family!

    Re: Sweet Tickets, Jingle Jam

Thank you Kate! We had a great time! I brought my son and my neighbor's daughters along. We played with some robot puppies, got cool bracelets, ate popcorn and pizza. Somebody even invited us up to the VIP lounge to meet stars of the show and the dancers. We laughed, danced and sang.

Thank you again for the tickets- we appreciated them.
