My family's favorite Chicago architectural landmark is the Chicago Cultural Center.  We love to go to all of the free events.  Yet, the beautiful art adorning the ceilings in the building is outstanding.  Just look up and see for yourself.

The Museum of Science and Industry.  Not only is it a historic landmark, but it is so full of interesting things.  There was a list of 75 fun things to do there in today's Tribune in honor of their 75th anniversary.  Even though we've been there a lot, we need to go back and look at some things on the list we missed!  Check out the calendar of events for the 75th anniversary celebration, it includes dippin dots ice cream.

Our favorites are the Spearman and the Bowman, the two statues that flank the Congress entrance into the city from the Western suburbs. They also love the Bean in Millenium Park!

Re: Get your sweet prize here

Our family had a favorite architectural landmark of Soldiers Field.  That changed when my son and I went to the Chicago Art Institute for a Western Humanities report.  My husband and son love riding their bikes in Chicago looking at landmarks.  Someday I will join them when I am not working the weekend.  There are so many different architectural landmarks throughout the Chicagoland area.   Maybe another contest would be to expand the territory?  Just an idea....
Hope that everyone finds their own special place to call their favorite!

My 5 year old, who is very interested in numbers and size, loves the Sears Tower. Whenever we see it as we are driving, he points it out and says, that's the tallest building in the world, except for the one in Taiwan!

Our family favorite is Millenium Park and "the bean!" My son thinks it's so cool! We love to just go to Millenium Park and walk around and let the kids play. There are many great landmarks in Chicago, but we love the bean!!!

My family favorite Chicago landmark has to be the Buckingham Fountain, the kids loves going there at dusk to see all the beautiful light colors, music and making penny wishes.

My family's favorite Chicago architectural landmark is the Sears Tower, and the surrounding skyscrapers. We live in the far south suburbs so my daughters dont get to see many buildings! Especially Skyscrapers! They love for us to hit the Dan Ryan Expressway on the way to there grandparents house up north so they can see the skyscrapers in a clear view from the car. They refer to downtown as the "buildings city"!

My favorite is the Old Chicago Pumping station. It holds a special place in my heart because survived the fire of 1871 – and my Great-Grandfather’s business also survived that fire, being 1 block from where it ended. And we also love the fire station attached to it. Fire Stations, especially Chicago ones, are always near and dear to us, since my husband’s father is a retired  Chicago Fireman.

All in all though, that spot just says Chicago!

The original water tower, because of the materials used to build were local and of course the history behind it.  It is a great place for us to take the kids and teach them a little about history here in chicago and see how the building are different today than year past.

One of our favorite stops is Buckingham Fountain.  When it is running or the lights at night - just is a symbol of summer for us.

While he loves to track our progress to the Field Museum or Shedd Aquarium from the western 'burbs by watching the Sears Tower loom larger, our 5-year old son was so amused by the Trib's Blair Kamin's description of the red-beamed Museum Park Place as "ticky-tacky-toe" that it's now become his favorite city building. (Despite Kamin's objections, I'm sure!)

    "ticky-tacky-toe"
