    Get your Adler tickets here

You don't have to be an astronaut to visit the moon. Through the month of April, five Chicago Parent readers will have a chance to win family five packs each week to go see "Fly Me to the Moon" at Adler Planetarium, 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, as well as general admission to the planetarium. To win, we'll post a different question to answer here every week. For this week, we want to know your family’s favorite Earth Day activity. Post your answer here, then e-mail your answer, name and your Chicago Parent ID to e-dition at chicagoparent dot com. You must post and e-mail us for your answer to be counted. We will not release your information-it is purely for contact purposes. Some answers may appear in Chicago Parent magazine. Winners will be chosen at random and may have no affiliation with Wednesday Journal Inc. or its employees.

To find out more about, "Fly Me to the Moon," check out the article in our April edition here.

This contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Re: Get your Adler tickets here

As a family we sit down under a tree and think of all the good things trees do for us. Examples: many trees provide pulp for paper, lumber for our homes and furniture, other trees give us food, some give us medicines, trees prevent erosion and reduce flooding, all trees produce oxygen for us to breathe.

    Thanks,

Our favorite Earth Day activity is to get outside and enjoy it!  We play soccer so that's a great way!  We also review what we are doing to recycle and take care of the earth and what we could do differently.  The kids' school sends home wonderful information on Earth Day as well!

In the Past I can't think of what we have done other then go outside and played.  I think this year, we can think of new way to recycle things we normally forget to recycle.

We love going to the zoo.  My 5 year old daughter is very worried right now about animals that are nearing extinction.  She goes around and points out those that are in jeapordy.  We then discuss the reasons why it's happening and what we can do to help the animals and the rest of our environment.

My son has been learning a lot about Earth Day in school.  He takes an active part at home with recycling.  We hold many dinner discussions about how we can help the Earth.  As a family, we love to do things outdoors, especially hiking.  We "take in" all that the Earth has to offer.

We are also going to the zoo for Earth Day. They have lots of activities set up for the kids!! And we are going to try and start planting a garden in our backyard. My son is also learning about recycling in school, so we will talk about that and ways to help the planet. But we also make sure that we are doing our part for the Earth everyday, not just on Earth day!!

MY FAMILY AND I, WE GLIDE TO VISIT THE BROOKFIELD ZOO, HAVE GUEST FROM EL SALVADOR, AND I BELIEVE THAT THERE WOULD BE A GOOD WAY OF CELEBRATING THE DAY OF THE EARTH KNOWING THE ANIMALS AND TREES AND DIFFERENT FLOWERS THAT THERE.

    Thank you

Re: Get your Adler tickets here

We help clean up the park that we are fortunate enough to have in our own back yard!  Usually the park district or nearby university has a group of volunteers coordinated and we join in, and it is a good activity that our son (now almost four) can participate in, and play too.  Every year I **intend** to take a trashbag with me every time we go to the park or one of its playgrounds --- maybe this will be the year I actually remember to do it!!
