The Red Thread

What happens when a long-time feminist activist becomes a mother? How does she stay true to her vocation and voice and still have time for her daughter? She's not sure either, but join this baseball-loving Chicago feminist as she tries to find her way through typical parenting land mines with a feminist perspective.

Giveaway - Piper Reed: Navy Brat

Hanukkah Harry & Santa left me something for one of you! But you need to come on over to my personal site*, read my review of a great new kids book, and leave a comment. What is it? You're very own copy of Piper Reed: Navy Brat. Who is Piper Reed?

It’s not easy being the middle child, especially when your dad is a Navy Chief. Meet Piper Reed, a spunky nine-year-old who has moved more times than she can count on one hand. From Texas to Guam, wherever Piper goes, adventure follows, inspired by her active imagination, free-wheeling spirit, and a bit of sister magic. Unlike her older sister, Piper loves being part of a Navy family, and unlike her younger sister, Piper is no prodigy genius. Piper is Piper–fearless and full of life!

This is a great story with a cute, spunky protagonist. A little bit Ramona and a dash of Jan Brady and you get Piper Reed. Her family is a riot too. I even did a mini-interview with the author. Fun!

* Warning, my personal site is my personal site where I do discuss issues that I wouldn't here. If you stick with just the book post, you'll be fine.
