Madness, I tell you! I'm not even hosting Thanksgiving and I'm scrambling to get things done while still working full time this week (well, at least til Wednesday).
My youngest sister is coming up for the holidays from Kentucky and bringing her boyfriend to meet the family. Ok, now, I'm sure my sister and her boyfriend wouldn't necessarily give two hoots if my house was not in tip-top shape (it never is), but I desperately want it to look better than last time she visited.
We don't have time to breathe, let alone do a consistent shaking down of the house on a daily/weekly basis, inside-out cleaning, and following the Cleaning Fairy ( I totally forgot what she's called, but she should be sainted), just doesn't happen here - no time. We have furniture to clean, bathrooms to scour, hardwood floors to mop, stairwells to sweep, linens to be washed plus all of the little regular every day things.
Had I a cleaning lady (so NOT in my budget), the little regular every day things would be done on a consistent basis and, thus, would not become big scary overwhelming tasks to be feared. The laundry would not sit in piles waiting to be washed, then folded, then still put away. The shelves might not pass the white glove test each and every time, but at least, then, they would not leave a thick trail of evidence behind.
Tonight, we are baking pumpkin pies (from scratch - no seriously, from the pumpkin, they're fabulous!), making our regular dinner, doing homework, running to softball practice, packing lunches, studying for tests (would you believe there's a test tomorrow?), and THEN trying to play catch up on the cleaning. UGH!!! Oh, yeah, and somewhere in there, finding time to upload some more pics, dig up some old posts and get this blog back up and rolling.
Oooh...I have lots of pumpkins downstairs. Perhaps if I close my eyes and click my heels together 3 times, one of them will turn into the Cleaning Fairy????? Oh no, wait...I've got my wishes and fairy tales all jumbled up. I'd best go eat some more pie!
