As much as kiddies are creatures of habit, every tot, from the largest to the littlest likes a little bit of change sometimes.
It's what makes life appealing.
Well, that and funny fruit-covered PJs (Apple of My Eye shown at top left, also available in Baby Blues-berries, Tickle Me Tangerine, Pretty Peas Please, Bananas in My Belly, and Carrot Top Kisses, $27-$35) from New Jammies, a company with a kid-friendly, good-for-you mealtime message touting fresh fruits and veggies as the path to healthy enlightenment.
Their range of 100% certified organic cotton jammies and sleep rompers (footie jammies for you and me) for babies, tots and big kids are the brainchild of mom, entrepreneur, and real-life organic chemist, Nicole Weinberg - she hails from the Garden State no less - who hopes to make positive changes in the world, namely via inspiring healthful habits in children and their families while also parlaying the importance of planet protection, all while supporting various children-oriented philanthropic organizations, too.
Besides, what's sweeter than dressing the apple of your eye in New Jammies' apple-printed pieces?
Cosmomama says there's more in the details:
Although I'm a big fan of the jammies being 100% organic and promoting a yummy message, I recommend sizing up - a lot - since the garments seem to fit quite snug. And I emphasize the word snug.
Keep in mind that pajamas are not meant to be loose-fitting garments in accordance to fire safety regulations and whatnot, but I don't think they should fit like Olivia Newton-John's black leggings in Grease either.
Wills is long and lean and most things fit large on him width wise - it's length that we always find comes up short - but I had a heck of a time squeezing him into their 3T size. For comparison, Wills normally wears a 2T in 2-piece PJs. Eventually, I poured him in, only to find that the seams left red marks the next morning.
I prefer something a little less constricting for his sensitive skin.
Additionally, each pair of PJs comes with an original New Jammies "book" - a term I would use loosely since it's not a bound hardcover or anything - with age-appropriate titles like "Counting My Fruits and Veggies," and Tales From New Jammies Land.
The counting book was ok. The illustrations are cute and the rhymes might entertain your tot for a little while, but the tales book really didn't make the cut in my opinion. It's about who is the best fruit or veggie of all based on nutrients, the yum factor, etc., but the repeating line of "I am the best fruit or vegetable of all," regardless of whether a banana, who is obviously not a vegetable, or peas who can't be mistaken for anything but a veg, was annoying.
On the upside, New Jammies is currently offering free shipping.
