Don't Be A Pain In The Grass

Woodsy the Owl has his work cut out for him.

When we were kids, his earth-saving message was simply, "Give a hoot! Don't pollute .... in the city or in the woods.

Nowadays, it would have to include something about the importance of fighting against global warming, making sure to separate recyclables properly, and the danger of hormone-altering phthalates and bisphenols in consumer plastics.

Somehow that doesn't sound as cute or as catchy as the original, does it?

Little Green Star, however, is putting the charm back in eco-chic togs with a whole line of 100% certified organic onesies and tees for babies and toddlers meant to get them excited about science, nature, and saving the earth and all of its inhabitants, be it by conserving water, going green, learning about sustainable farming practices, understanding the importance of hybrid technology or all of the above.

The company was founded by friends, green-living mamas and bonafied environmentalists, so you can be sure that Little Green Star didn't originate just to take advantage of the greenbacks that seem to be part and parcel of hitching a ride on the fast-growing bio-friendly bandwagon.

These gals are the real deal, and so are their tops hand-printed with water-based inks that are free from phthalates (see, it's a biggie) and PVC. Cosmotot's picks are "Water Pollution Makes Me Crabby" and "Powered by Organic Milk" (shown at top left, $24).

"Future Geologist" (shown at bottom right, $24) "Future Entomologist" (not shown) and "Future Paleontologist" (not shown) are pretty cute, too, since I'm sure no one round the playgroup really has any idea that they really just mean you dig rocks, bugs and dinosaurs.

But hey, education has to start somewhere, right?

Cosmomama says there's more in the details:
Another reason to give a hoot! Little Green Star offers free shipping on all orders shipped within the good ol' U.S. of A.
