Boonstruck

When anything from modern innovator, Boon, hits your eye like a big pizza pie, it's more than amore.

It's more like dumbfounding amazement brought on by products so cutting edge, so streamlined, and so artistically space agey, that you and your toddler will be entirely too gobsmacked to engage in the usual spit-and-toss mealtime madness.

Why you ask?

Well, first off, this nifty little number for the kitchen, otherwise known as the revolutionary Flair Pedestal High Chair (shown at top left, $219.99), available at healthy lifestyle company Generation Orange, has advanced features like chemical-resistant, waterproof padding; an adjustable position, compact tray (or should I call it a feeding delivery system?);  top notch safety features like a five-point harness and restraining post; and believe it or not, the same, back-saving, just plain nifty pneumatic lift used at hair salons.

The rundown of benefits, features and safety devices sounds more like the makings of a space ship's safety cage than something novice eaters smear carrots on, but I digress.

The sturdy pedestal base not only evokes some contemporary, priceless piece you'd find at a fancy downtown art gallery, but gives the Flair an easy-to-clean design that also glides smoothly under tables. That's mainly thanks to its six hidden urethane casters that promise not to scratch floors.

There's even a hands-free braking system that locks the high chair into place. And as for the aforementioned pneumatic lift, it allows for ease in continuous height positioning, letting parents adjust the height based on their feeding preferences.

Cosmomama says there's more in the details:
Since this modern dilly of a chair will cost you a pretty penny, there are some good things to know before you buy. The first is that assembly is pretty easy, but an electric screwdriver will definitely speed the process along.

Two: If you've already been using another high chair (as we have) junior may not take to the more compact seat and tiny (and I mean tiny) tray. Wills unfortunately didn't. There was hardly any room to accommodate his dinner plate, which meant no sippy cup, plastic toy car, or more than one utensil within reach throughout the meal. He doesn't like to eat without all his usual suspects in place.

Third: If your home's interior doesn't boast the latest in stainless steel and minimalistic modern design, then the Flair might not fit into your decor. The Flair Elite Pedestal High Chair, however, comes in orange and gray with a stainless steel base, making it a warmer-hued high chair in comparison to its frosted counterpart, but keep in mind that it will cost you more moolah, too.

But in the end, one simple fact remains .... the pneumatic lift is pretty cool, and so is the 10% of profits that Boon donates to children's charities.
