The Art of Childhood

Ok, so I didn't come up with that. Crayola did.

But when it comes to verymeri, a charmingly artsy online company - and newly instated Cosmotot fave -  that's all about encouraging budding Picassos and Pollocks, I definitely think the tag line fits ... to a tee.

In fact, that's precisely what it offers. Tees for kids designed by kids.

How it works: Tee designs change seasonally. A contest determines new styles. So, pencil-, crayon-, marker- and paint-loving wee ones (under the age of 18 - no parents allowed, unless it's for uploading purposes and that whole navigating the internet thing) can get in on the art-filled action by submitting their own doodles, drawings or life-defining masterpieces directly to the web site. Said works of art will then be voted on by kids, and the design with the most votes wins!

After it's all said and done, the winning submission ultimately becomes a rockin' verymeri tee and becomes a nationwide, best-selling sensation.

Well, you know what I mean.

It just sheds a whole new light on that goopy, heavy-handed, finger-painted um ... family portrait (that looks like lumpy elephants with purple globs on the ends) hanging on the fridge - and dripping slowly but surely onto the kitchen floor - doesn't it?

Cosmomama says there's more in the details:
As if the thrill of having your very own drawing immortalized on a shirt wasn't enough already, the winning designer also gets 3% of the sales, and so does Free Arts for Abused Children, a non-profit organization that provides art services to at-risk children and their families.
