Pulp Non-Fiction

Getting it all together before that cute little yolk in your still-tiny tummy is even close to being anywhere near postpartum can be hard enough without having to worry about filling out a lengthy, intense mom-to-be journal in the interim.

I've always preferred jotting things down - silly doodles, meaningful moments that don't require a 10-page narration, quick one-liners  -  since it's faster, sometimes more appropriate, and a heck of a lot less time-consuming than writing a thesis about the myriad feelings a pregnant gal is likely to have on a given day ... no, make that in a given hour.

Pulp Factory's line of cheeky calendars (there's notepads and sticky notes, too for just $3-$6 - get them all in a super-cute polka-dot ribboned 3-piece giftpack, $28) provide bloomin' mamas with just that kind of quick-and-easy jottable action in a super-organized, wire-bound A Pregnant Girl's Life Calendar (shown at top left, $18).

It basically poses as a journal in calendar format, allowing mom-to-be compact spaces to record fabulously exciting pregnancy events like that first grainy ultrasound, the always sweet first kick in the ribs (from a teeny, tiny mouse foot about 2 months into percolating - just wait), upcoming baby shower extravaganzas and anything else that goes hand in hand with impending babydom.

For the super-pressed in terms of down time, there's a sheet of pregnancy-themed stickers included (all calendars come with different stickers to suit the subject). Mark the same milestones with a quick stick - no pen required.

New moms need not be left out of the organizational fun either. Pulp Factory also carries a A New Mom's Life Calendar (not shown, $18), along with coordinating notepads (there's one for the babysitter) and sticky notes, and even A New Baby's Life Calendar (shown at right, $18) - it has two handy-dandy pocket folders to store items like baby's hospital tag, birth certificate, footprints or locks of hair, and plenty of room to fill in the first year favs and firsts like those first babbled words, a cranky new tooth, play dates, and that time baby pee-peed all over daddy's shirt just as he was on his way out the door to catch the train.
