Get Down with Your Green Self

The idea of "going green" has gotten a lot more user--friendly and accessible - going beyond the idea of exclusively including fanatical, fervently-devout tree-huggers and hemp-loving, commune-living hippies only - as more and more eco-conscious folks and families jump on the bio-friendly bandwagon.

An easy way to do your part is by recycling.

Duh.

I mean going beyond putting those two bins at the foot of the driveway every week and carrying the idea into other parts of the usual routine.

Take grocery shopping for instance. We all do it and we all end up with a gazillion plastic bags we don't know what to do with, so why not tote your own earth-friendly bag along?

The uber chic, 100% natural cotton Thoughtful Bag (shown at left) from green lifestyle company Gaiam - when I say lifestlye, I mean lifestyle ... this sustainable living company has everything for home, garden, nursery, bedroom and bath, from Kitchen Compost containers to Seventh Generation diapers to cozy eco flannels - might just motivate you, especially since $5 (that's way more than most companies donate) goes to Solar Living. $30

If joining the revolution via trendy tees and tops is more your style, then Gaiam has tons to offer in that department as well. Cosmotot's pick is the aptly named soft and smooth 100% organic cotton Give Back Thoughtful Tee, although the Enlighten Up Tee (shown at right), which benefits Action Against Hunger, definitely vies for that top spot. $28

Even baby can learn that it's easy being green with cute and cuddly Organic Cotton Stuffed Animals (shown at bottom left), that are made from nothing but 100% organic cotton (I guess you would have figured that part out) and low-impact dyes.

Embroidered details means no choking worries, and the fact that they're machine washable means that no matter where baby roams, they'll always come clean. $11.99 each.
