In a world where life's pint-sized stage comes with too many pyrotechnics, the Junior Director's Chair from Chicago-based institution, Hoohobbers, deserves a standing ovation.
It doesn't light up, need batteries, require assembly or take up its own wing of the house, and its lightweight portability and foldability (it has many abilities) ensures that little showboaters can command ... erm, interact, with parents, siblings, family and friends in any room, bullhorn in hand or not (like they need something that further projects that lung power).
Not only is little handy-dandy little seat 100% watersafe, it's also made from sturdy adult-weight fabric (doesn't mean Daddy should try sitting in it), comes with stabilizing floorpads to protect floors, and even does double-duty as a booster seat when used with the included chair strap.
The Willster loves that he can one-handedly drag or carry the chair from the playroom to the kitchen to the gate closing off the living room and our Christmas wonderland, and I love that he's showing added independence and choice-making (not climbing over said gate for example). At first, he did tumble out of his seat backwards a few times since the back rest is quite low, but now that he got the hang of it, his little bum is bump-free. $34
Hoohobbers has a great way to keep clutter to a minimum, too, with its mega-roomy (4.5 cubic feet or storage!) toy box. It folds down flat to an unbelievable 1" for easy storage and transport, and its watersafe construction makes it a good choice for beach toys or sports equipment. See-through mesh makes finding things fast, and its safety features - no lid to pinch little fingers and a trapezoid shape that's stable instead of top-heavy - make it the ultimate in child-friendly favorites.
Now, if I could just get Will to stop using it as a spaceship, our playroom might look less like it acted as host to Santa's workshop for the past year. $60
