Thanksgiving might currently be the elephant, er, gobbler in the room, but I have to admit, I'm already feeling the warmly spiced, glittery, wintery glow that comes part and parcel with the Christmas spirit.
It's not entirely my fault. The nanosecond Halloween was over, stores replaced ghosts and graveyards with sparkling, light laden displays, and seemingly every radio station in the greater metropolitan area put on a never-ending loop of cheery holiday music.
The truth of the matter is that I love Christmas. I mean, I really love Christmas. I love celebrating family togetherness, gathering for a big home-cooked meal (I don't have to do the dishes - that part is key), morning mass filled with choirs and trumpets, and seeing the delighted smiles as everyone rips into gifts.
I relish in decorating the house, indoors and out, and by the time it's all said and done, my hub and I have collapsed in a heap on the couch, William's lost somewhere under the leftover tinsel and candy canes, and the house looks like Santa threw up sugarplums, reindeer, ornaments, miseltoe, and everything else you could possibly think of absolutely everywhere. No corner goes overlooked, no crevice is left unseen.
Part of spreading that holiday magic is planning our annual family photo. I start thinking about coordinating outfits in October, and though we briefly flirted with the idea of appearing in footed jammies, I think the kibosh got put on that one.
Instead, as usual, we're putting the focus on the Willster, who really is the star of the show. My hub and I are merely the backup singers. Part of pulling that off is adding a fun and unexpected touch to his ensemble, and Cosmotot fave, Robeez, the fabulous Canadian maker of best-selling soft-soled footwear for babies and tots, makes it a snap with a new 2007 Holiday Collection.
The peaceful crimson Dove (shown at top left) is absolutely gorgeous, and works for both boys and girls, and the yummy cream Gingerbread Man design (shown at right) is so darn cute, I may actually have to have William's feet photographed separately.
Other designs include a pink and blue Snowman and a navy Drum .... pa-rup-a-pum-pum. I couldn't resist. $27.95
